Davinder Kaur is one of the founding members of SWEDA and has been involved with the organisation since its inception in 1989. She served as a Director on SWEDA’s Board of Management for nearly 10 years before joining SWEDA’s Management Team as a Staff member.
Our team extends way beyond the employed staff team to a range of other dedicated people without whom sweda couldn’t fulfil its role in the community. These include friends, volunteers, partners, funders and a board of directors, which is responsible for the overall strategy and governance of the organisation.
The directors attend regular board meetings where they receive regular updates on the performance of projects being delivered at sweda and on income and expenditure profiles.
As this is a company limited by guarantee there are no shareholders and all the directors are volunteers. The CEO answers to the board of directors, but is not a member of it. She is responsible for all other staff and the day-to-day running of the organisation.
Jackie Leech has been providing information, advice and guidance to clients aged 16+ for the last 17 years and has an NVQ Level 4 qualification in Information Advice and Guidance.
Sandra has been a Business Adviser for over 20 years in addition to running her own business for the past 9 years. She brings a wealth of experience to SWEDA including race relations, corporate finance and sales all of which are utilised fully as part of the Business team.
Jas has a vast amount of experience in both the public & private sectors supporting SME’s all over the UK and draws most satisfaction through helping others.
With over 20 years of experience of giving business advice to new and established businesses, Des has a proven track record in being able to diagnose and evaluate client needs to identify their business or training requirements.
Jan has been in business since 1980 and her mission is to help others to achieve their goals both in business and in life.
With a background in the Health and Social Care sector, Ann Marie’s mission is to help and support people both personally and professionally to become who they want to be.
SWEDA has a policy of identifying and engaging with talent and potential, so when Warren Dickens attended as client it quickly became apparent that his computer skills made him stand out from the crowd.
Gurjit started at SWEDA as a volunteer in the IT suite. His main duties were to assist the IT tutors with delivering the wide range of courses that are available to clients.
Hayley’s first job was as a Pharmacy Assistant whilst studying for A levels and completing a Degree in English Literature and Language. After graduation, she was part of the management team for a retailer outlet before joining SWEDA.
Charon Kaur is an experienced office administrator with over 20 years’ experience in various administration roles. She has worked for private and public sector organisations as well as multi-nationals.
Shahen Bibi has been working as an administration officer for over four years for sweda. She was offered a work placement in 2007 to gain experience and gained a permanent position after six months of work placement.
Bhavika bought three years of administration experience when she joined in 2019. She’s also worked in retail for over 5 Years.
Previously a journalist, features editor and a community outreach organiser, Sympho’s mission is to ensure that people that come in contact with her leave better than they came in. Having bought some wonderfully varied experience to SWEDA, Sympho is part of the Administration team looks after the all-important monitoring. Sympho loves seeing people’s lives transformed for good.
Peter came to SWEDA in order to add computer skills to his employability portfolio. Shortly afterwards it became clear that it would be beneficial for him to progress with Microsoft courses including Word Processing, Powerpoint & Desktop Publishing due to his keen eye for detail.
Andy Salmon has long had an entrepreneurial spirit. He built his own successful IT business in Australia which he ran for a decade before selling to a larger organisation. Since returning to the UK, Andy has assisted over 200 existing businesses to achieve their growth aspirations.
Rickie has been a self-employed trainer since 2004 and helps people start, grow and promote their business.
